why....

We have a female angelfish, and she has been alone for about 4 months. We went to get her a mate, and she is going after him, (her little huhu is sticking out). Is that normal for females to go after males when they are ready to mate......Oh, and this is my first post.....I am new here, but also belong to another fish forum.....I will upload pix when possible...thank you Kim

welcome to fishlore kim!!!
angels are picky fin babies....sometimes it takes a few different boys to make her happy.the pecking order and chasing can be very normal for them also..especially in spawning mode......making sure the new one is a male is a must..and the girl you have , im assuming you know for sure its a female? sexing them can sometimes cause confusion...as long as there is no serious injuries going on, it may take some time to have her like him....what size tank are they in? are there others with them? if you fill in your aquarium info under my settings, that helps not having to ask so many questions...sometimes moving the fish that has been in the tank before adding a new mate, and re arranging the tank decor and letting the new fish in there for a half hour or so, then readding the established fish, can help...good luck and cant wait for pics!

I think you are putting the emoticons too close to the pic attachments...hit the quote button and backspace and delete everything from the quote...in that thread hit the paper clip and upload your pics..if it turns white , your pics are too big and you have to resize...if they upload, you will see them and then go back to the paper clip and hit insert them all

i give up...i am gettting to frustrated....but i will keep hunting and a pecking...the guy at the LFS (he has taken care of angelfish for over 30 years)...and he told me it was a male....man that sucks if it really is a female...

maybe it is...without the pics loading right , I cant say for sure...id go with his reputation as 30 years is a long time

EDIT: you can still try taking out the agressor and redoing the tank deco ...then putting him/her back in ....cant hurt anything..but usually with angels, they get quite settled if alone for long...and again, it can be just them establishing a pecking order

I trust shawnie implicitly when sexing angels. She is right more often than wrong.
That said .... angels are frequently really rough with each other when choosing a mate. They may chase, nip and lip lock. This is natures way of choosing the strongest fish to mate. So watch them and if they start doing damage they need to be separated.
