Angelfish egg thief!

Okay I just got downright sick and tired of seeing them lay eggs and then seeing them eat the eggs so I am the angelfish egg thief. Shoot me but I want some angel babies dang it. Mom and dad were not really interested in the eggs anyway because neither one of them was fanning them at all. The eggs are a creamy tan color and no white ones as of yet. I stole the whole piece of slate out of their tank and put it in a 10g with a bubbler going under it. Oh I found the eggs this morning and I have been back and forth watching them to see if mom and dad were going to make a meal of them or take care of them this time. I guess you see where that went LOL.

Thanks Shawnie. So far I think I am on the right track but I welcome any suggestions. If I had not read Carol's post about angelfish babies I probably would have left them with mom and dad again but I got angelbaby fever again. I just figure if mom and dad were not going to take care of them and would probably end up eating them I might as well give it a shot. I guess time will tell in the end if we get babies or not. Drum roll as we wait....not patiently!!!

Well it is not looking too good. The eggs look like they are turning white. I guess I will see in the morning when I get up how they look and go from there.

If the eggs are fertilized they should be fine and hatch for you. Of course there are usually a few white ones that dad may have missed so don't get discouraged.
The bubbler under them will keep oxygen rich water moving over the eggs. 50% water changes everyday will see you with wigglers in 3-4 days. Although with warmer water they will hatch sooner
I Have used methalyne blue in the past and I guess I got lazy and somewhere along the way quit. Doing daily water changes i think will be enough but the MB won't hurt.
What I was told by an angelfish breeder(My first angels were Koi angels) was to put the eggs in a 5g glass jar, put enough MB in it that I couldn't see through it. Then do 50% water changes every day until it was all gone then remove them(they were hatched by tehn) to a larger tank. I did this several times and it worked wonderfully with large yields.
Now I use a tank instead of a jar and don't use the MB. I am going to recommend a book that I love. It was my first angelfish book and has so very much information in it.
http://www.amazon.com/Angelfish-Comp...5546186&sr=1-4. It's not fancy or expensive. One of my grandchildren wound up with mine.
Good luck sherry! Keep us posted!

Well no luck with this batch either. Maybe the dad just did not do his job or maybe that is a girl in there thinking she did the dads job. I put the MB in the tank and was doing the 50% water changes but they all turned white. Maybe next time. I will be ordering a new book to add to my collection. I have been looking for a good one on just angelfish now I know exactly which one to get...thanks Carol.

Sorry Sherry! They will get better at it.
I really enjoyed the book I recommended, It's easy to under stand and has a lot of interesting thinks as well as cool pictures. Let me know what you think.

Well Carol it is not for lack of practice. I have two different pair laying eggs as I type and another pair cleaning a big sword leaf. Whatever I am doing they are apparently happy, gorgeous, and growing like weeds so even if they never do figure it out there will definitely be no loss. I have already gotten way more than my money's worth in just enjoyment from these beauties. I am ready for my new book though can't wait till it gets here...hee hee another fish book...LOL. I will be sure and let you know what I think of it but honey if you recommend it I am sure it is great!! I bow to the angel queen!!! I see exactly why these babies make you so happy.
