Angel not eating

every one has heard this before with many different fish, so hear it again. my new angel fish (got him last friday (5th of june) is not eating. he is rather large (about 7 or 8 inches tall) and all the other fish are about 4 inches or less.

when he was at my LPS he ate a few flakes when they fed him. for about at least 1 or 2 years he was living with another angelfish. the man who owned them brought them to my LPS last Thursday, he didn't want fish any more. he was dumped in a 10 gallon tank with another angel and an oscar so i thought i might help at least one of them so i bought him.

Once brought home he was really timid and shy. now he is swimming around a lot more. i think he recognizes because he looks at me then swims at me, so when he does this i feed the tank. i drop the flakes in and all the fish plus him gathrs round. the angel swims to the food real fast to the food as if he were going to eat it then stops.

here are some suggestions what might be wrong, please let me know what you think is the case.

1) he misses his old friend, the other angel
2) he is still getting use to the tank
3) the flakes are to small and he is not interested
4) he is scared/intimidated by the other fish causing him not to eat

which one of these is the most likely reason he is not eating

if you have any other suggestions please tell me

thanks

sorry it's so long

Hmmm....try feeding him some frozen bloodworms and/or frozen brine shrimp.....and see what that does. Mine go crazy over them! Also...what brand of flakes are you feeding him....maybe it's different then what he is used to eatting.

Post a pic if you can...would love to see him/her.
