Kiss from a CAE

a few days ago my CAE (i returned him to my LPS today) gave my angelfish a "kiss" just above his eye. the same CAE gave one of my female mollies a CAE kiss about 2 months ago and the poor molly ended up dead. i was going to get the CAE out then but i could never catch.

i am worried and don't know what to do with my angel. he has the same sought of bump/mark the molly had before she died. i put some stress coat in when i did a water change just in case. is there anything i can do to save my angel?

Keep the tank water pristine. Don't skimp on weekly water changes.
Clean water is very important for healing your angel's ouwie.

CAE are known for this. They can be awesome fish but tend to suck on other fish for protein for various reasons. I would keep the water super clean. I would do daily or every other day Water changes and stress coat would help too. The main thing is preventing it from getting infected and allowing it to heal as quick as possiable. Good luck with your Angelfish. I hope he makes it.

i would do a water change every day if Australia didn't have any water restrictions, i am reduced to doing a 40% water change every 4 - 8 weeks.

thanks for the advice.

can you buy a couple big bottles of water to tide you over between the big water changes?

he is slowly getting better. he was put into a breeder box about 8 days ago. he looked fine 6 days ago so i released him. i found him swimming upside down. i put him back breeder box. he was just on his side, breathing heavily for 4 days. i thought i should put him down. then one night he was swimming normally! he is okay now, but he is in the breeder box until the mark has gone.

thanks
