Do Angels have a time of year so to speak?

Is this the "time of year" for angels or what? I have angels pairing up that I thought were too young. The Koi angels that I got from Anna I knew had laid eggs before and they are about 8-9 months old. Well I have calico and smokies that are only about 6 months old that are pairing off. I had to put a divider in with the smokies before they killed the others because they laid about 50 eggs (all that I saw anyway and yes I counted). Don't get me wrong this is very exciting but I am still fairly new to angels. I have fallen in love with them and they seem to be very happy apparently. I think I had better go back through all my reading and see about this age and pairing off. Maybe this is the normal age for them. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations mommy, That's about right. I remember when mine laid eggs for the fist time, I thought something was wrong with my intake filter because it was full of "bubbles". After I brushed the bubbles off, I cringed when I saw all the eggs float away!

Just to give you a heads up, most times the "new" parents will eat the eggs the fist few times. so don't panic. They'll start laying eggs every 28-30 days. I was never able to keep them because my tank is a semi aggressive tank so the eggs end up as food for everyone. But I enjoyed watching her deposit the eggs while the male follows and fertilize them.

Enjoy your new endeavors!

So they must like thier living conditions huh. They get a weekly water change of at least 25% sometimes more and maybe an extra during the week if I "accidently" overfed be cause they beg too much. They also get a varied diet of bloodworms with garlic on Monday after water change (to make up for me stressing them out) krill, shrimp, flake, earthworm....oh man my fish have it made. I did not realize all the goodies they got until I was writing it down...and all that not to mention all the new stuff coming from Kens anyday now. I need to watch my diet like I watch thiers!!!

Well except for grow out tanks I pretty much have species specific tanks. The Koi angels have laid twice and ate the eggs...the last time they laid they really just ignored the eggs until they all were fungused. Every once in a while they would go and fan them but not very much. Now the Smokies really worked hard with one fanning and one guarding but this was their first time and they laid on the filter intake. I left the lights on for the angels 24/7 but maybe they will get it right next time. Tommy has his mixed tanks and I keep everybody else by themselves.

Well I am rambling now so I guess I will stop it for a bit anyway.

I love happy fish and I really like to give them goodies. The little buggers have stolen my heart. I really try not to overfeed but sometimes they just beg way too much and I have to give them another little nibble.
