Hello guys,
I got a breeding pair of Angel fish yesterday. They have the 55 gallon all to themselves. The dad is HUGE..Seriously the size of my hand. I've never seen a Angelfish that big. . He is a Zebra and the mom is a Marbled Koi. I'm just wonderig what there babies will look like..lol...I was told they were both Zebra but ohhh well..Just wondering if anybody is up on the dominate genes thing and a prediction of what these babies will look like. Thanks guys...I'll post pics as soon as I get my batteries charged..

Umm..no fair. Posting that you have brand new fish, and telling us we have to wait for pictures.
How much did a breeding pair cost?? Angels are so expensive near me.

We'll I got them from a guy who was tearing his tank down. I got the pair for $30.00.

I got some pics but not very good ones so i'm gonna wait untill they get a little more used to me and then snap some pics.

I think I might have gotten in over my head though..lol...The mama is either full of eggs or I over fed her..lol..I'm hoping she just ate a whole lot..At least until I can get
the Blood Red Jewel babies adopted out.

She is probably full of eggs...LOL just because you don't have room for more babies right now. That is the way it always happens or it does here anyway. You will be setting up more tanks to have room for everybody.

Carol would be able to tell you a lot more about angels. I am new to them, breeding them that is, and so far so good thanks to all the advice on here. I do have to say they are beautiful to watch. Good luck.

I have no clue on the genetics and such but congrats!!!!! seems to be the IN season for angels LOL ...im so happy for you!! remember to have some type of lighting left on 24/7 once they do spawn...otherwise, they usually end up as a snack!! cannot wait to see them

Shawnie will the parents eat them if I don't leave the lights on?? They are the only ones in the tank.

mine do and they only have cories with them....but with the lights on, they dont ....I dont have a lamp in the room so I leave the tank lights on 24/7 once they spawn...once I figure when my stepdaughter moves in(there goes my fish room~!!), ill concentrate more on raising fry ...for now, im trying to figure where their tank is going ...

What little buggers..Thank you for the heads up..I'd be soooo dissappointed if they ended up spawning and then ate them....Lights on it is!!...Did you end up finding them a hex tank??

You can kinda see the boy in the first pic but every time I even get close to the tank he turns and faces the wall. He does have some serious scaring on his body though....Poor guy must have been through allot. He kinda reminds me of the SW Angelfish on Finding Nemo..lol..All scared up and big and tough.lol...I'm sure he'll come around eventually. I'm used to all my babies doing dances and greeting me at the glass..not turning their back to me..lol.

not all are the same ...can only speak about mine ..and the lights do it!! but be prepared..it took mine about 3 spawns to not eat them period...you have a breeding pair so you will learn what works for them...im so so so excited for you!!!! and no hex yet...i havent had time to concentrate on my angel pairs as im in the process of loosing my fish room...booo hooo'e! but ill get there

Shawnie!!! I am so sorry for your loss. What are you going to do w/o a fish room. Sounds like time to remodel to me...add a great big new fish room.
