| Sounds like you'll be busy for awhile with all that breeding. What kind of pleco are you looking at breeding. |

| Common Plecos are very hard to breed in the aquarium. It would be a huge undertaking to try...They would need a huge tank, they are hard to sex, very aggressive, and they like to breed in muddy caves along a river bank. usually people use ponds to breed them...I would start with something much easier. Right now I'm raising 6 L-144's to breed, It's allot of work and commitment. I did a TON of research and had allot of input from some good people on this site. Here is my thread about it... Breeding Journal
The best advice I can give you if your wanting to breed anything is to research and research some more. Then make sure your prepared and have everything you need.
Good luck with your breeding, keep us posted. It's always fun to see little babies. |

| i fully intend to try and replicate a mud bank as mad as that sounds, i have a 7ft x 2ft x2ft tank in storage and when i have a pair then i will get it ready,,,
i have an idea to put a layer of top soil on the bottom of the tank, and build it right up on 1 side with plenty of tubes going right into the mud bank,, im even thinking about maybe putting a cave of some sort into it under the mud banks with the breeding tubes leading to it,, sounds extreme but its something i wanna try,, i have done plenty of research but ive only been able to research what i can find on here. |

| you will need to make it a very big mud bank, becuase common plecos breed by digging holes into it (im not sure how big) because some can get to 24" im guessing it will dig a VERY large hole.
If you want a challange you cold get ALOT of small tanks and breed some Bettas :P |

Here in the US common plecos are very cheap and sold WAY to often. Very few people can actually care for them properly since they need such a huge tank, yet they are sold to people who have 2.5 gallon tanks. It's very sad and it's actually quite a problem in the U.S. Not sure if it's the same where you live. If it is I would urge you to try a different pleco, If it's not then go for it ...I'm eager to see how you do this and if your successful. You'll have to keep us posted on all your breeding ventures. |

| i reckon on that thought process its prob not a great idea to frequently breed them if i manage to do it,, but i reckon i iwe it to myself to give it a try and if i can get 1 spawn out of it id be chuffed to bits, as for smaller plecos im sure i saw a forum somewhere which gave a list of 30 maybe i should search for that and give that a try,, L200 seems like a good number to start at.. |

| LOL..I would be very impressed if you were able to breed them. I'm not well educated on other types of plecos yet..I just dove into research on the kind I'm breeding. But L-200's are very pretty, Green Phantom right??. Keep us posted. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...species_id=223 |
