| with angels, you definitely don't want more than one pair in a tank unless you have a very large tank, IMO at least 75 gallons. all of the types of angels (marble, koi, etc) are pretty much the same in terms of temperament, so it's really just whichever one you like best. you'll want to make sure that you get them as juveniles otherwise they may see your guppies or neons as a snack! |

| I have angels in with guppies, platies, cories, jack dempseys, blood red parrots,& pictus catfish, ...always have a back up plan in case something goes wrong ....if they pair up, and the tank isnt big enough, they will kill or harm other fish in the tank...some angels will eat neons and some dont..others have said if raised with the neons, they seem to not snack on them..again, its a chance you take either way....what size tank are you planning ? |

My pet store wouldn't allow me to buy them because I have angelfishes in my tank.
I wouldn't recommend you to keep guppies and neon tetras or even platy fishes in with your Angels. Mainly because the Angelfishes get very large, and if you don't give enough food for the entire fishes in your tank, then your angels will be hungry. Although Angelfishes are voracious eaters they still need a LOT of fish flakes or pellets. I don't give too much food for my angels in my 29 gallon tank because they can already feed on my never ending amounts of duckweed and many other plants in my tank. So they eat more of my plants instead of the flakes more. Also, I have seen some videos on Youtube of a man having a 90 gallon HEAVILY planted tank and they keep only about 4-5 small fishes in there.
Such as platy fishes and probably guppies along with two fire mouth cichlids and one or two jack dempseys. Although it's probably been removed IDK, but if you ever find it, just take a look at it
I hope this info helps you out a lot Last edited by Shawnie; June 18th, 2009 at 06:59 PM.

I wouldnt ever put platies with firemouths or jacks tho...but that me... |

I don't know how I can root them into the gravel though They are always floating up. |

| If you want to have a good chance with keeping multiple angelfish, from personal experience i recommend you on getting them at juvenile age, they would be less agressive at this stage. I kept 5 in my 70 gallon tank with neons, cory and pleco with no problem. They just chase each other around a bit when its food time but otherwise they swim together peacefully. Hope i helped. |

Am I right? I don't get a lot of fish chasing around in my bigger tanks. Just my small tanks sometimes. Like my ten gallon, and my 29 gallon. |

| I would back up shawnie's comment on the BRs...they are mischevious little bullies...
coming to the topic...ive had the pleasure of going through a lot of trouble with my angels...bought 4 juvelines had no problems till they matured...turns out that 3 of them were males and only 1 female...once paired they literally killed one of my angels off...i had to rescue the second one since it too was beaten up pretty bad...
my tank size is 55 gallon so space was never really an issue to begin with....its just thier nature and do consider that before you go on and add a whole bunch of them together...you will have to eventually rehouse some. |
