I heard that it is more likely for an angelfish to be less aggressive if kept with other angelfish is this true?

i'd say that they would be happier with a pair, but less happy with any odd number other than one. the one angel that didn't pair off would probably get beaten up quite a bit.

Right now I have two that are not a pair and it's a nightmare..I'm going to have to rehome at least 1 of them because of the aggression..If you wanted a pair I think like Alex said they would be happy to have each other around. Usually to get a pair you'd buy 6 juveniles and wait to see if two of them will pair up, then rehome the rest or buy a proven pair which can be quite pricey...IF you do want a pair in a community tank and they spawn they can become very aggressive just like any other cichlid does during spawning. They are good parents and will protect their fry. Good luck..I love Angels and wish they would just get along..lol..I'm hoping to get a pair very soon.
