Yes i think she is full of eggs although she may be bloated?

Is she still eating normally?

Have you seen her poop?

is this after recently being fed? ive never seen my angels get so big before spawning...only after they have eaten ...I dont usually know they are going to spawn unless I see them cleaning off their favorite spawning leaf

That's the case with my angels as well.

jack--sos, how big would you estimate the angel is, and how long have you had it? It may just be a perspective trick in the pictures you've posted, but I would have guessed that she (if it is a she) was too young to attempt spawning just based on the images in this thread.

Mine do get a little thicker before spawning(took me a long time to notice it) but not such a localized "I swallowed a marble look".
Do you have any green peas? If so rinse one off, split it open and give her a tiny bite. Try to feed her the whole pea in tiny bits through the day if you can. This will help her go poop. If she's not constipated it won't hurt her. My angels will eat anything and love peas and just about anything they can get in their mouth

My females do get a little bigger in their bellies before they lay eggs. It took me a long time to notice it thought too. Its not something thats super noticeable. She looks a little small to lay eggs to me though.

I looked at the picture again and I think it looks fine. I would think she would not be trying to breed without a mate anyway. Iv'e never seen an angel lay eggs all by herself. Maybe someone else knows if that happens or not but Iv'e never seen it.
And I don't know how to tell a male from a female by looking at it. Iv'e read experienced breeders on the internet talk about being able to tell by the shape of their head etc but from what I have read most people can't tell from looking.

Never seen angels w/ eggs that big and if were carrying egg that big, should be able to see blunt ovipositor which I cant see from pic. Although not sure due to big belly, think it may be MALE.

If still alert, reacting to movemnt aound the tank for food, maybe constipation.
Look up FishChannel.com, a article on Fish Constipation. Maybe will find solution there.
Good Luck!

i guess i will have to wait a few months to sex it. i think it was just bloated because there is/was no sign of eggs in the tank and the swelling has gone down.

thanks for the help everyone
