Angelfish grow pretty fast.In a couple of months they could be as big as 6".It doesn't take long, depending on the water quality and food variety.

Optimum angelfish water quality:
Soft (0.6 to 1.2 dH), slightly acid (pH 6.5 to 6.9)

foods:
Live foods Adult brine shrimp, Black Worms, Mosquito larvae, finely chopped earthworms and live fry freeze-dried foods is also good. Flake food is fine as long as it's supplemented with some of the other foods regularly.

Angelfish need absolutely the cleanest water possible to grow to their potential size. Mine are in 7.4 pH and do fine. 78-80F for water temp. Although when they are babies I keep them at 80F, they tend to eat and grow better at that temp. With that said, they can expect to be at least quarter to 50 cent size at three months. After that their growth slows down a bit. They are full grown at about eight months although they will continue to fill out for another couple of months.
Good quality food also makes a difference in how they grow. Lots of protein-Thawed Frozen bloodworms, Brine Shrimp, Mysis shrimp. They also need a little vegetation. I feed mine Omega One veggie flakes and an all around good flake- Omega One color Flakes.
