Angelfish with clown loaches?

Hello,

Are angelfish and clown loaches compatible? I had recieved some links to compatibility charts in the Freshwater Beginners forum. The charts contridict each other. One says they are not compatible and the other says that they are. Can anyone help with this question?

I have a 55 gal tank with a pair of Angelfish and three clown loaches about 5 inches long. They both have "alpha personalities" (if that's politically correct), but leave each other alone for the most part. Every four weeks when my angel lay eggs on my plant, the angels get real protective if the clowns go near them. The angels are like that with all their tankmates, but because the loaches are so big, it's more of a conflict... (Angels always win). I'll upload a picture of them.

I have kept clown loaches and angelfish together for many years without any problem. The clowns will even learn to come to the surface and eat with the angels

I loved the picture of the angels with the clown loaches! I have never seen angelfish so fancy in the stores. Thanks you guys. I cannot give rep points until I have 50 posts in. I wish I could because everyone on here has helped me so much! Guess I'd better get posting.

I'm sorry, I edited my last post before I saw that you wrote this. I can only see that icon on my posts, no one else's yet. But I will get there! I'm here to stay.

Yes you should be fine with the loaches.

Just one thing, there is a very very high risk too.

Clown Loaches can get ick very easily, and that's why sometimes you have to turn it up to a very high temp about 90ºF sometimes.

Good luck!

I agree 90F is way too high around 80-85 and you should be fine. Also my clown's got Ich but it went away in 3 days.

Yep 90F is a little too warm although clowns loaches and angelfish do well at 82F and thats plenty warm enough to prevent ICH.
PepsiGirl I believe there are some pics of my clowns and angels together in my album
