Angel Fish Drama

Ok well I had the spawn and after the eggs were gone everything returned to normal. So to speak, but there is a love triangle in my tank. The female that spawned is most likely the only female in the tank large enough to do so. So we have two males that want the same girl, one already had an attempted spawn so at this stage I feel she assumes this is her mate. But the other larger male wants none of it. He wants this female for himself and wont take no for an answer.

So here is where I am concerned. He prevents the original pair from getting together. Thus far she hasnt accepted his advances. Actually I am hoping she will because he is by far (apart from her) the best specimen in the tank. Amazing colour etc. And I will eventually thin this tank out hoping to retain two pairs, SO HAVING HIM IN ONE IS A BONUS. But I dont want her to be put out so shw will never fully pair with the first and never accept him... forever a spinster

Any thoughts from angel keepers with a fair bit of experience?

Re: Angel Fish Drama

Since your tank is 55 gallons in volume, and if you don't want to give the lonesome male away, you could add another female for the Romeo (lol) - if your tank is not overstocked, of course. If the two pairs would fight with each other, you could use a tank divider. If you don't want a tank divider ... I'd suggest another tank for the Romeo and his new lady

It's very possible that the current pair you have would fight with Romeo and his new lady. I know that from what I have observed in my angels. When they spawn, they become aggressive. Luckily for me, they limit themselves only to chasing other fish in the tank. But it could have been far worse. Just so you know.
