New member with a problem.

He was doing fine. Two days prior to his death he was very agitated attacking other fish from one position on the bottom of the tank. He would move back and forward repeatedly over and over. The day before his death he appeared bloated and would on occasion go to the top of tank and gasp, no eating, cranky behavior, and a very fine thread of white from the anus. Any answers would be most appreciated

A thread coming from the anus is usually some kind of parasite or worm. You should probably keep a close eye on the other fish in the tank. I'm sure other members know more though.

Welcome to Fishlore. I'm sorry you lost your angel and I'd agree that it does sound like parasites. I'd do a 50% water change on the tank and stock parasite clear just in case you see any signs of parasites in the other fish.
