| 95F is a little warm I would think. 85F would be a little more appropriate. Even at that temp a lot of water movement, water changes, bubble wand maybe are needed as warmer water has less oxygen content.
Did you test your water or did I miss it in reading the posts?

| No its not a typo. If you go to http://www.angelsplus.com/faqhealth.htm and read the begginning part you will see why I did it. I previously had it at 88 degrees and that didnt help him at all. And guess what... for the first time I have progress... he is eating again and I am feeding him anti-parasite medicated food by jungle labs. His gasping has finally started going down. he is getting better. |

| That is a very reputable site and usually has good information. The gentleman who owns angelsplus is reknown for his angels. But.. it still seems a little bit warm. Warmer water holds less oxygen so lots of aereation is called for. good Luck, let us know how he is.

| ok he ate his special parasite food last night and twice today. I had a crappy thermometer in there and despite my heater setting being at 95 I wanted to know exactly what temp it is. My crappy thermometer was reading 92. That thermometer was one of those red mercury ones suctioned onto the inside. I went to the store and bought an air pump and put it in, but I also bought a digital thermometer. My digital thermometer says its only 85 degrees in there. My heater is maxed out at 95 though. maybe the heater I have is not strong enough for this tank. Weird. Soooo, after all that his temp is not at 95. 85 degrees is making him feel better though and he's eating. So I will leave his heater at 95 degrees (which is really 85). I will leave the air pump in there anyway, since I bought it. And I will continue feeding him his special food. I will let you know how he's doing. |

| Glad he's doing better. Remember the article said just feed him a bite at a time the air pump is a great idea.

| [quote=bigmarc;433682]He's laying on his side I think hes going to die and I am regretting even getting into this **** fish hobby. I wonder is this part of the hobby. Do all of you go through this? QUOTE]
I understand how you feel. I went through the same a few weeks ago... and YES I felt the same way – I just wanted to give all my fish away and just give up! But this is how we learn. Yes we make mistakes and sometimes it is a trial an error thing... and yes sometimes we do lose our babies.
But by observing the behaviours and noting what you did during this time (what chemicals you used, what the reactions were and what worked and didn’t work) you will be better prepared next time something like this happens.... and you will notice and recognise the signs much faster... and you will be able to save you fish baby.
Even if you do lose your baby (I really hope not) you should continue to read and do research about you fish and the diseases they can get etc. What you could do (I see you are passionate about your angels) make a file of all the info you can get about those fish – the diseases, cures, how to prevent them, feeding, water conditions etc. It will make it much easier next time something happens – a quick reference.
I’m sorry that I cannot provide you with a cure...
But I can see you are very passionate about your fish, so please don’t give up! |

| Thanks Carol, 04_si, and everyone else who has helped me thus far. Carol I am going to continue to feed him one piece at a time and remove it if he doesnt eat it. I will continue to keep you all updated. Isis, you are very right, at one point I was frustrated but my persistence and love for my fish may have paid off. And I have learned a lot for the future. |

| Sometimes it takes things like this to learn more about fish. Ive sure had my ups and downs, Im sure everyone on this site has. We work hard to care for our fish, and its hard when they arent doing so well. When everything in the tank is going perfectly, I know I dont spend HOURS upon HOURS trying to figure out what could go wrong. |

| Well I gave him a month of internal parasite food according to the directions and he was at 100% so yesterday I reunited him with the 30 gal tank and you wouldnt believe how cute it was when he saw the other angel he used to live with (the black one)before he got sick. They follow each other around all the time and the one that used to be sick looks so happy now. The one that used to be sick was larger than the black one when he got sick and because he wasnt eating for so long is now only half the size of the black one now. |

| Hey big marc, I know how you feel. Im new at this too, and I have a platy who is doing the same thing. I have tried everything, nothing has helped. What gets me is, the pet stores just kind of shrug you off, and truth is they have no idea what they are talking about. I actually had a girl that works in one of the local pet stores admit to me that she knew nothing about fish keeping, but yet she turned around and tried to tell me what I should buy to "fix" my problem? I could not believe my ears!!! I am so frustrated, and upset, I just dont know what to do. So I feel your pain, Its an awful feeling. Hang in there, Im trying. |
