so i just got a new angelfish yesterday, and last night as i was releasing him into the tank, i noticed he only had one ventral fin...is this common? i saw a little spot where it looked like the other one shouldve been...if it just got torn off, do u think it will grow back?

Probably won't grow back. If there is a place where it was it most likely lost it in shipping or a fight.
If it were genetic there probably wouldn't be a place where it had been.

ok thanks...i dont really care, and he doesnt mind either as far as i can tell, he doesnt have any trouble swimming or turning

i had the lights out when i noticed it, ill get a closer look tonight when i feed them...and maybe i can get a pic too, he isnt shy at all so it should be easy enuf

Our first angel that made it from our breeding pair got one of her ventrals bit off by another fish about mid-July. It's been growing back, but VERY slowly. I'm not sure if it will ever grow to full length, but at least it's growing a little.
