How can you tell??

Can anybody tell me any experienced breeder ways of sexing angelfish other than the papilla and the cichlid bump that the male will develope. It does not have to be a 100% sure fire method.

Thank you

Good luck. You've already listed the most reliable ways. Supposedly females stay smaller and plumper then males....but i've seen some pretty hefty females before.

The tubes and seeing them breed are the best ways.

Males supposed to have a 'fuller' or more 'pronounced' shape. Havnt been able to use that method before, tho.

First of all how big are your angelfishes? because it is hard to tell when they are young, because their bottom fins haven't developed much yet.

The males will not have any curve on the bottom tail fins. Not the fins that get the fishes moving.

The females will have a curve. Try going to google, and search up male and female angelfishes on the images.

That usually helps. I just asked a million questions at Big Al's Aquariums. They told me a lot.
