well last week he/she (is there a way to tell the difference?)... ate 2 of my poor lil platy pregnant girls.... so today I bought 4 ghost shrimp to see if Angelo would enjoy a tasty treat, after I watched what happened when I put them in his tank (I am presuming it is a he) ... I FELT TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I put these poor unsuspecting shrimp into the tank... it was like watching a jaws movie...... I saw Angelo fire down and attack... 2 vannished before my eyes, the other 2 shrimp leaped to the top of my tank and balanced on the filter tube.... I have not seen them in the last hour... Angelo is currently in his own tank............ will he ever be able to share and hang out with other fishies and if so, what size tank do I need....... I dont want him to be on his own.... but I dont want him eating anything that moves that isnt a Pleco.

angels will eat anything that fits in their mouths...so prefered bigger fish is something that will be safe

It sounds like that angel just has too aggressive of a personality for tank mates.

What about bigger fish ...like some of the larger mollies that are out there?...rainbow fish ..( not sure about temperament on those but I think they are mellow)..what else gets 3- 5 inches ?

What size is the tank that your Angel fish is in? Its possible that the tank is too small and the Angel is trying to keep what little territory it has, to its own.
Some Angels are just aggressive in personality and have to be kept by themselves. Shrimp would be considered a tasty treat by a lot of fish. How large is your Angel fish? For it to attack a platy it has to be pretty large and in that case, I would really look for a larger tank, at least a 29g Tall for an Angel.
But in the end.. your Angel fish would be fine, by itself with no others in the tank.

you could try buying another angel (preferably female) so hes not on his own but he cant eat it and then he might settle down and you can add other fish back in

If you try that, have another tank ready to move the new angel to, since it's better than 50/50 that your current angel will attack it.

Hes not that big, I only bought him 3 months ago and he was weeny little thing... now hes about 3 inch. He is in a 12 gal on his own for the moment..... Im wondering what to do.... Id like to get a nice big tank and have him in there with some bigger fish..... but for the time being he is going to have to stay in the 12 gal until I can buy a nice big tank.... Im scouring graigslist to see what pops up.
