Good tankmates for an angel?

I just started a new 55gallon tank with 4 molly's and 2 platy's finishing up cycling duties. I will eventually add a breeding pair of angels but would like to make sure my intended tankmates are compatible and I'm not going to overstock before making any mistakes. I hope to have 6 molly's, 4 platy's, 5-6 cory's, and the angels. Thank you for any advice, I'd rather listen now than pick dead bodies out of my tank.

Welcome to Fishlore. Normally, the platys and corys for sure would be ok, I'm not sure about the mollies. But when you have a breeding pair, quite often they'll kill off the other fish.

I will scratch the molly's off the list, I only used them in the first place because my LFS had trouble getting the last shipment of fish and there wasn't much of anything left. Is there anyway to prevent the angels from wreaking havoc? Like ensuring sufficient hiding places... or something else along those lines. Really I only care about the angels, everything else is kinda a filler for my wife and kids to look at.

You can try hiding places, but it would be a tough life for the other fish if the breeding pair decided they were a threat to the eggs. I've seen our Angels move FAST when they thought the eggs were threatened and they'll even attack my hand if i get near the eggs. They don't seem to mind the Plecos though and the Plecos are smart enough to stay on the other side of the tank from where the slate is. Our Angels literally will throw themselves at tongs if I try to remove white eggs. They're incredibly protective.. sometimes even with each other.

I only have had this one pair of Angels though, so I'd see what others with more Angels experience say.
