plant and shrimp compatibility

I'm planning on getting a new 29 gallon tank, and the main fish I'd like to put in it is an angelfish. I want to have live plants in the tank, but I've read that angelfish will eat some plants. Does anyone have experience with what plants are good to keep with angels?

Also, I was thinking of adding cherry shrimp; will they be safe with sufficient plant cover and hiding places or should I not include them?

Thanks in advance for any help!

angels will get a hold of small shrimp, so they aren't recommended tankmates. However, the plant eating can be reduced by sufficient meals, or the addition of plastic plants

I don't have a problem with any of my seven angels eating plants ...But they will pick algae off of them and pick at them to clean them before spawning on them.
Shrimp aren't a good idea with angels, they would consider them snacks on feet

Okay, that's what I thought might happen. Thanks.

Would a snail (gold inca) be okay? I want something to keep algae down and I have one in another tank who seems to do a good job of it.

I have mystery snails of varying size with my angels and they don't harm them. Once in a while they will get down and stare real hard at them but I think their just trying to figure out what they are

If you want to go the Snail route, I'd suggest Japanese Trapdoor Snails. They don't breed profusely like other snails and are good algae eaters.

my oto's are making "burn" marks on my plants.. I guess they suck on the plants when they cant find algae..

Pah! Apple snails, algae eaters?

Try the world's best algae eating snail. The Nerite snail... There are loads of different kinds.... Zebra nerites are most common.

ive noticed that my angels have nibbled at my grassy type plants but they seem to have left my broad leaf ones alone, might hae something to do with the size of there mouths?

My Angels dont damage my plants, my tank is heavily planted. The tank also has riffle shrimp in it. The shrimp have plenty of cover, but at feeding time are often out eating right beside the Angels and Loaches.
