What would you do?

I have a 29 gallon tank with a pair of angelfish and some gold tetras. One of the angelfish constantly picks on the other and he usually spends the day hiding in a corner when he is not being chased. I bought these two as youngsters together and they always got along until they reached sexual maturity. I think this is considered normal behavior for angelfish, but I can't help but wonder if I should put one of them in another tank, or re-home one of them. I just feel so bad because I feel like the weaker one is stressed all of the time. What would you do?

If you see physical damage by all means move one of them. If not this could be a precursor to spawning. They can get pretty rough.

Hi, I had the same problem with my mollies. The male was supper agressive with my 2 little female molies> My proble was I had very little tall plants and very little sea shells and hidding spots for my girls. I would sudjest getting females if they are males fish... at least 3 females per male. If they are both boys just re-do you tank with lots of hidding spots...iclud shells. rock, plants, and do little caves for them stand up the shells so they form a wall, use the rock to support the shells. Use tall plant to take away the fishes straight-line-of-view. If they cannot have a clear view of the other fish accorss the tank this may help him get side tracted. I did and it worked for me. Hope this helps.

Im not really good w/ angel fish, but could you maybe ad another female to the picture? would that help? I know w/ african cichlids the trio is the way to go not sure for the angels or other n world cichlids.
I know your tanks are very well decorated, there are a lot of breaks in sight.

There has been no physical damage at all (thank goodness!). Carol, you might be right. They spawned for the first time about 2 -3 weeks ago so this could definetly be related to that. I am just not used to their aggressive behavior. As long as there is no physical damage should I just let them be?

I personally would let it ride for a bit. but at the first sign of physical damage yank one of them out.

Fred and Wilma had a bit of time like this at first. Fred would chase Wilma a lot and nip her tail fin. He still chases her some, but has stopped nipping her. Wilma would swim up to him though or we might have seperated them.
