compatible tankmates?

hey everyone

since the female german blue ram died, im looking for a different fish to try to breed.

after adding up the sizes of my fish at adult size, i have about 35 inches of fish in my 55 gallon. i have recently started to take intrest in koi angelfish. do you think the would be compatible with the fish shown in my sig? i was thinking maybe a boy and girl, but just one would also be fine. the tank also has about 15 plants, if that makes a difference.

thanks!

I think they would go well ...but finding a pair is hard..unless you buy a paired up couple already....they love plants so thats a bonus!! goodluck

just remember, if you do get a paired up couple, ive heard they can be monsterous but its a give or take chance im hoping 2 of my 3 pair up..still waiting

The only fish I would be worried about is the neons. They might become lunch when the angels get older. If you are looking for a breeding pair of koi angelfish, look on aquabid. I have seen some very nice pairs for sale on there. Good luck

Pairing angelfish is not always easy, as they need to pick their own mates. If you don't want to buy paired adults, the best way is to get around 5 babies, then wait for them to grow and for a pair to form. You then should remove the others.

The fish you have should be okay with angels, except - as MissMTS says - for the neon tetras which may be eaten by adult angels.

thank you all for your replies!

im assuming the neons wont be around by the time the angels are that big, sadly. they are getting pretty old, and they dont have the longest life span. ill make sure they always have a safe home though

and your all right, im making the pairing off sound too easy. i guess i feel like its easy just cause i was pretty lucky with my GBR's. ill give it a try, and if they dont pair off then o well, thats fine as long as they are happy.

thanks again for the replies!

Angels can get pretty stressed, so he should get more color as he gets used to his new home.
