Aggressive Angel

I have an aggressive Angel, he/she is aggressive towards all fish even other Angels.
This fish has gotten so aggressive that I have to move him/her out of the tank and in a 10g by him/herself
Anyone have any suggestions? I would like to put this fish in the 60g

Hi Heidi...was the angel in there first? sometimes taking them out for a few days, then re-adding, makes them feel like the newbie ...but angels can be territorial..mostly when pairing but who knows, maybe u got a feisty one! are you overstocked because if not, maybe buying a couple more angels might have him/her a new gf/bf to fall in love ...goodluck

Sometimes certain angelfish are just aggressive. I have a cranky female here.

Hello, Yes this is the biggest angel and he/she was in there first. I have the angel in a 10g now, for a few days. I guess I will try him/her in the bigger tank again. This angel is so big that I believe a 10g is too small. Does not seem to be happy in there.
Thanks for all your help everyone!

Hello Heidi
I also have an aggressive Angel that I have had to move from tank to tank just finding a proper place for it where it would not be aggressive to the others. Finally ended up having to put it in a 29g divided tank with another anti social fish, my Discus. Your ten will be small for it, maybe you can get a 29g tall for it at some point soon? I doubt that it will change its personality even with a time out. Adding more Angels will probably just cause more aggression. Some fish are just plain ole mean and there is not much we can do about them other than keeping them alone or trying to find someone who has a tank for them.

I started out with 3 medium sized angels (2 silver & 1 yellow) and they seemed to get along well. I then added two medium sized marble angels and my largest silver seemed a little aggressive toward the marbles but the tide changed and the marbles rule the 29 gallon tank now. I found the large silver angel floating one morning. The marble angels constantly pick on the remaining silver angel. The yellow angel gets along with the marbles but sometimes picks on the silver angel also. The yellow angel also defends itself well when the marbles try to pick on it.

Any suggestions?

Hi Larry,
I would take the silver out of the tank, as soon as you can.
I have personal experience with aggressive angels, and they can do a lot of damage.

Try taking out all the angels or just the agressive ones...rearrange the tank decorations, and then put them all in together..sorta like a time out...it works for my tribe and I do it when needed...been a few months for me now tho..so phewwwww LOL goodluck!

I tried that with mine, but it only works for a few hours. Then all the fish in the tank get picked on. It is now to the point that I have to cycle a 25g and put my aggressive angel in. So let's hope I can cycle this tank before someone else gets killed.

I have a super aggressive female who is being sold tomorrow. She has torn up her male so many times that I am not sure he could go thru another beating. I have been trying to see if she is only aggressive at certain times. But she is just a mean fish in general. I have been watching her for a year now...I can't seem to keep her happy so she is going to a new home.
