Crazy angelfish!!

So I had to put the aggressive female back in the tank b/c we needed her tank for the 2nd batch of acei fry. That was 3 days ago. The guy hasn't come for her. I hate when buyers get flakey. It's too soon to put her in the other tanks (not cycled enough for my liking). Not much fighting, just breeding mode emotions.

Last night the pair even laid eggs. The female would lay the eggs and the male would EAT them instead of fertilizing them. 20 minutes later & Angel didn't even notice that the eggs were gone. They were taking care of the leaf they laid the eggs on but there were no eggs. Chasing the other fish away from the leaf. I laughing my head off.
Needless to say but these two just don't click. The male isn't interested in breeding at all.

It sounds like the pair were stressed. They probably ate them because they did not think the site was safe enough for the eggs.

He has done a lot of flakey things all of the times they've tried to breed. I don't think he is a breeder. Which is fine right now..we are over run with acei fry. lol
Yeah they are in a 44g with another female angelfish and 3 keyhole cichlids. I know they need to be alone for survivors but it was a comical site to see.

I am keeping her for pure entertainment now. Unless she get too aggressive.

Nope they've always lost the eggs throughout the night or the keyholes do.

I have this female pair up with other females and lay eggs simultaneously. You are right it could be female. But he acts like a male right down to the time before last time rubbing his *umm* pee pee on the eggs. Who knows but the angels sure are silly.

True enough. They are very active fish. When we had 13 of them in the 120g, they weren't anywhere near this active. These 3 angelfish have been together in all sorts of different sized tanks over the past year. They were the first angels I bought along with a gold and a leopard (RIP fellas) just over a year ago. I can't seem to part with them even when they aren't being nice. I am meant to have these 3 for life. I just hope they don't fight like they did before. If so I'll separate again. Times outs are a necessity when keeping angelfish.
