Look what follwed me home!!!!
So, I've taken in an Angelfish. A friend has had it for awhile living in a 55 with a medium sized Oscar. They grew up together so the Angel is kinda shy. I've had it in QT for 24 hours and it looks to be doing well. Hasn't really eaten yet but I'm sure it's stressed out. Gonna stay in QT for a few days to see how it does. Then I'll be adding it to my 45 planted. He really needed to give these fish away. He's working on a Malawi Mbuna tank and it really taes all his spare time. The Oscar\Angel tank was starting to get VERY neglected. The malawi tank is beautiful though. He has 5 Bumblebees and 3 Aceis. Those Acei are gorgeous. One of these days i'll have to get a pic. Anyway Here's a picture of my new baby. He/She is about 2.5" long. No idea what variety or sex. Never ever had an Angel before.

Well, it just chowed down some Bloodworms and is looking pretty good. All scales present and shiny. No bumps, sores, or other signs of problems. Put a 1/4 dose of Quick cure in just to kill anything that might be laying in wait. I went 1/4 to keep the green down and I'm not trying to actually cure anything. The tank it was in was getting pretty bad. Right on the verge of melt down, but it looks like I got there just in time. Before any disease could show it's face. I think I'll probably introduce it to the 45 tomorrow. It looks fine, except for the curl in it's upper fin. Looks like it might have been damaged at some point and healed weird.

I love her, she's a beauty - our Angel, Fred, would love to have her in the tank. I'm not 100%, but I think that's a female. Congrats on rescuing her.

Well I had to rescue her a second time. I put her in the 45 and she was stoked. I watched for awhile (duh ) and went about my buisness. About 10 mins later I saw the Angel at the top GASPING. "OH NO" She looked terrified. On one side I noticed the previously unscathed fish now had some fair scale damage and fin damage. Within the next 30 secs I found the bully. It's the gourami. She was MAAAAADDDDDDD. My sweet little gourami turned into a swimming demon. I immediately scooped the gourami out. I have a "The bully goes" policy in my tanks. Sadly, I'll be (hopefully) selling my gourami to the LFS. If not selling then giving. I just have nowhere for her to go and her would be mate died. She was way to young for him anyway. I think it's best that I give away the gourami because I know she is totaly healthy and been well raised. I'd prefer give the unlucky Angel a happy home. She deserves it and the LFS takes pretty good care of their freshwater fish. Just thought I'd update on the introduction fiasco.

It's too bad Gourami and Angels usually get hostile with each other.

Was concerned but the gourami was always a sweetheart. Oh well, the Angel has calmed down now, still hiding in a top corner, but calm. I've noticed that her sides have faint black stripes. You can barely see them. The visible lines have darkened up as well. I think she's gonna be fine. A little pampering will go a long long way. Good thing I excel at spoiling the tar out of my fish.

Well, if you ever think of giving her up, our Angel Fred would be glad to have her in his tank. He's also a spoiled Angel fish.

Look to be female to me too. The shape of the front part of the face usually is more rounded when it's a male.
Pretty girl!

She is a beauty - great story and great rescue. I am always reading on forum how aggressive gouramis are, I have dwarfs and have had no problem - all males. However, when I bought 2 little sunsets and had them in the QT, one chased the heck out of the other, who would just hide behind the heater. Finally I moved the little turd fish to his home tank, and the other one finally came out of hiding. Geez and these were little ( maybe 1 inch).
So happy to hear she is settling down now.

Angelitis is very contagious and a long lasting disease. There is no cure. they have such personality. From what I can tell she may be a sunset blusher.

Here's a new picture of my little Angel. She's gotten MUCH darker color already. Her previous owner said e thought she was just plain white. As you can see in the picture she is most certainly not plain white. She has already learned who I am. In fact I had trouble getting a good shot because she would try to swim in my direction even when I was 15 ft away lol. I kept getting front view shots. No exactly an Angel good side photo wise lol. When I first got her I didn't even realize her eyes were reddish orange. I guess she was more sad than I thought. Anyway, clearly on the road to recovery, she loves any food I offer and is especially fond of Cyclops. Maybe with the new pic someone can give me a better idea on what "flavor" of Angel she is. I am clueless on Angels.
PS. That's an Emperor Tetra nearby. They are VERY hard to get a good shot of. This may well be my best yet. They are (IMO) the prettiest Tetra. Silver, blue, purple, black, orange and gold. They are VERY plain when young but as adults they are BEAUTIFUL. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that in there. lol
