I wouldn't call it pessimism at all. Definitely reality. As you said, it takes a lot of work to keep it safe for the fish, and angels are quite fragile as has already been said. When I was a college student, I know I didn't have tons of extra time to dedicate to outside activities. I wouldn't think going through the hassle of maintaining a 10g tank for a fragile fish would do anyone any good, though if you have to.. you have to. I was also one of those poor students on grants and loans, so I would never have had the money to buy even a bare bones setup. That would have been lunch and dinner for the week (I never ate breakfast)

not to mention you would NEED biospira, as cycling with an angel is nigh impossible. Thats another 20$ right there

yeah, i guess a dose of optimism really sends the wrong message to someone who doesn't understand the gravity of this situation.

but you could always sell those useless textbooks for extra cash, haha

Hi Luna
I agree.. thats why I posted in her other thread, that I congratulated her on her willingness to try and save this fish by wanting to get the equipment it needs and for coming here to the forum and asking for help. She is trying...
The idea that her friend just passed the responsibility of this fish on her is a shame and now she is faced with the care of it and the financial cost as well as emotional.

What are you talking about? I already sold the books to buy dinner.. I always used my gf at the time or a friends books.. course some folks would find them missing if they left them out for any given period of time. Sure those books would reappear, but only after the midterm =D

Hope the merges didn't confuse anything too bad
If one post is repeated in too many places you won't get a good level of responses. where as if all your information is in one place it's easier to keep up with.

Hi!

Tavel - I think she should keep the fish... I'm almost the youngest (I think someone is a few months behind me) person on here - and I manage tanks with my tiny amount of cash. The secret is only to ask for money for your B'day and Xmas - or a few prezzies and lots of money. That way you don't waste potential cash on things you might not want!

PS. Well done Carol. Don't know where this forum would be without you!

HI Kosami
I am so happy for you and your Angel. It sounds like you are going to be a great fish mommy and that Angel is lucky to have you. You did everything right in trying to help this fish that was unexpectedly put in your lap!
Way to go Girl!

Hi!

Kosi - that's brilliant! 40 Dollars for a 40 gal?! Wow! It's great the tank is cycled as well. Your little guy was really meant to live! Puki and Tuti wil be really happy in there. You might want to get a group of angels in there - 4 more would be good. Well done - your doing everything right so far! Great you didn't have to do a bank robbery to find the money as well lol!
