Angelfish Destroying Plants - Whywhywhy??

Well, I had a 10gall that had two Angelfish and five rainbowfish. According to almost unanimous acclaim, the tank is too small. So I've gotten a 29 gallon and I have moved my rainbows outside. My old tank now has just the two angels, who are still really tiny so they can live here for a while yet. (besides, I like watching them swim around and play)

I read on many sources on the net that angels are fine in tanks with live plants. Many encourage it, in fact. However, these two I have find an almost childlike joy in biting at my plants and breaking them off. They ruined my grosso and ripped a leaf off my nanas as well as bit off the buds that were on it.

Can angels live in an aquarium with live plants? Am I not feeding them enough? I feed them twice a day with a total of 3 pinches of flakes.

Cichlids can be pretty hard on plants, unfortunately. I think they'll ignore some plants while tearing others to shreds. Some of our more experienced Angel owners could probably help you out there.

They will eat/nip any softish plants in my experience. Tough ones like swords they leave.
