Lost Our Angel
Last night we lost our koi angelfish that we had enjoyed for about 6-7 months. It was very odd how he (or she) went...yesterday morning he was find and swimming around as usual, by the afternoon he had dipped lower in the tank and wasn't swimming around as much, and by last night, he was gone. My husband inspected the body, and there was no coloration fading, no deformities, nothing out of the ordinary that we could see. All our other fish are very healthy and are doing well. There was no suspicious or odd behavior at all leading up to yesterday.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced anything like this before. He seemed to be a hardy fish, and we aren't sure what happened...

Are your water reading in order? I'm sorry to say i lost an exactly the same type of angel in very much the same circumstances. Never found out what happened.

So sorry to hear you lost your angelfish...
Watching the normal behavior of the angel fish, they pretty much let us know when the water conditions are not right. My own acted lethargic and wouldnt eat two times and I did an immediate water change and they would perk back up in no time.
When ever you see your angel fish acting out of sorts, its a good indication that the water needs to be changed.

Sorry to hear bout your angel, I see from the pic...very beautiful. First time I'd seen one. Lots of people say they have them, but I had a different image of what they were like. It's hard when you lose 'em, so try not to go crazy wondering why. Try to use it positively, turn the radar up high

I lost 2 out of the blue like that. Angelfish are pretty delicate & if not properly bred they don't last as long as we'd like.

We're sorry you lost your beautiful koi angel. Unfortunately, they seem to go pretty fast when they get sick. They're sensitive to water conditions, so I'd check that first. If the water is good, then it could have been internal infection or parasites.

I know just how you feel, I lost my beautiful Marble veiltail Angel 2 days ago, he was fine one minute & at the bottom of the tank the next. No signs of ill health at all & all my other fish are fine. I really miss him as he used to get excited everytime I moved let alone went near him. Ive never been that attached to a fish before.

Welcome to Fishlore.
Yea, it's sad to lose an Angel. Our Fred will take food from my fingers, but has been fighting parasites for almost a week. They have so much personality.

Fred is sick? Is it internal?
Its awful how they are so liable to get affected by these stuff.

Yea, I believe it's internal parasites. He's eaten some though and ate his AM food. I also am starting to think he misses having the Julie cichlids in his tank and might be a little lonely.

Hope he gets better quick! What are you treating him with? Did you take the julies out?
BTW, your cichlid tank is lovely!

I took the Julies out before he started to act sick. He seems to be more and more like himself, we treated him with Parasite Clear.
