Angels and Other Cichlids?

Can Angels be kept with any other species of cichlids?
Specifically frontosa's or Blue Dolphins?

Thanks
B

I think not with the type of fish mentioned above. They are malawis and as far as my memory goes, malawis should be kept with other malawis. If you like, you could wit for someone who knows better to come up...
I would suggest other malawi cichlids that are not very aggressive as these fish are mild tempered from what i read.

The Frontosas are very passive that I have seen so far, and these angels are aggressive so I think I won't mix

Frontosas are passive, but they get to 15" and will swallow anything able to fit in their mouth. Elephants are passive, but if they step on you you've still got broken bones.

Sabi is absolutely correct, malawi cichlids should be kept either by themselves or with other rift cichlids as the move adventurous move. I would not suggest mixing rift cichlids with ANYTHING else.

The ph for africans is very high, 8.5. Most other fish seem to have a lower ph. Angelfish like lots of plants and africans will eat them and tear em up. They are from 2 different parts of the world with different water chemistry. I wouldn't advise on putting them together just for that reason. Also...any type of african will get quite aggressive when breeding. They could tear an angels pretty fins ups, stress them out which would kill them eventually.
A rift lake only tank is best.

We've got some Julidochromis marlieri (Burundi) cichlids in with an angel and they are doing well. But the Julies will go from 5 to 2 once we get a pair formed, as what we've read on them suggests to do.

I have them with firemouth and severums and they do fine. nobody attaks angel but since firemouth and severum are territorial sometimes they will pick on each other but never on angel...

If you wanted to put angels with other cichlids, I would try a peaceful bottom dwelling apistogramma species, but no gaurantee.
