good news and bad news

so its been about a week since i saw the last signs of ich and i decided to go out and buy 2 angelfish i got a marbled one and a gold veil one so i got home acclimated them for 30 mins and the marble one sank to the bottom and was upsidown within 2 hours of leaving the pet store so while he was still alive i bagged him back up and went straight back to the store and when i told them what had happened and handed the fish back it had passed on on the ride back and this store is only 5 miles from my house. I got my money back but still that should not have happened! So i get back home and look at the survivor gold veil angel it looks like it has a whitish spot on him. Kinda looks like cotton or a white gell. so i was like eff that and took him out of my 50 gallon and threw it in my 10 gallon for 2 weeks the only thing in there is a blue crayfish about 5 inches long but ill be selling her in the next week or so. But honestly it seems like i cannot buy a decent fish without going 30 miles away. but im done with all these bs fish stores that are like "sure you can have a goldfish and a pleco in your 1 gallon finding nemo tank". it really gets me miffed! so im going to be keeping an eye on this angel and hope for the best has any one else been discouraged when you have an epasode of ich and lose 7 fish then get that undercontrol only to get fish that are already on their way out?

I can really feel for you, and you are right sometimes you have to travel a ways to the good stores that take better care with their fish. Even the way they bag them can affect the amount of stress they suffer on the ride home. All I can suggest is to do even slower acclimation. Sometimes with a fish that I know is really sensitive I will take two hours, then have the lights off, and do not feed for the first 12-24 hours.
I hope your last angel makes it!

I had to drive 30 miles last weekend to go to Petsmart to buy 2 Angelfish. And when I got home 1 of them was dead and I have to bring him back today to get my money back.I know how you feel,i don't have much luck either. The other 1 is still alive but it has been only a week. The first 3 that I had died within 2 weeks,so I'm hoping that the 4 that I have now will survive. But if I would be you,I would bring the sick Angel back and get a new one.Cause if he dies after your warranty is over, you will lose not only your Angel, you will lose your money too.And I know Angels don't come cheap.

they can be fragile in a way, especially when they're younger & smaller. we bought 4 angels at the fish auction - the older black angel has been fine, but the 3 younger gold angels all died so fast, we couldn't do anything for them.

the reason i was getting them small was because i have cardinal tetras in my 50 gallon where the angels home would be aswell the tetras are about 2 inches in length. what size angel should i go for?

well, the pet stores don't usually give you much choice in sizes.. they don't carry angels as big as "Fred", so we're going to have to get a female of around the same size from an angels breeder. there are cichlid clubs around and if you have one there, you could get angels from a local breeder and be able to be more selective.

i'm not sure actually. we didn't get into cichlids until we moved here, but if you google cichid clubs florida you'll find the clubs around your part of FL.

There are several aquarium clubs in Fla. Just depends on where you live.
