Well, I seen this happen many times with my prized wild/silver angelfish. The three verticle stripes that cross its body, disapear and reapear 30sec~3min. I don't really know if this is some type of camouflage defense it has when scared or is it some type of bizarre angelfish? Lighting does not affect this effect at all of the stripes reapearing and disapearing. Anyone got any info about this? Will be grateful for any info.

Hi Zero,
I have a silver angel myself with the three vertical stripes as well. It at times almost disappears and then reappears too. I believe that it is just stress related.

After watching mine for a while, I've come to think it's more then just stress related. It's definitly a communication of some sort

My silver & my zebra angels both lose their stripes when spooked.

It's normal for Angelfish stripes to appear and disappear It may and it may not be stress related. When my lights are off, and my Angels are in the "sleep" mode (lol), they're all pale. Once the lights go on and they "wake up", their colors and stripes especially, all come back I've watched them enough to know what sometimes stripes will disappear just like that, without stress. Maybe it has to do with being excited too or with some relations between the Angels themselves, who knows
