Quick Question

Hey guys i've had my angel fish for a couple of weeks now and is doing great. I've noticed something rather weird about one of her "feeler" fins that are on the bottom. One looks fine but the other one looks broke or something. she doenst move it or anything and its kind of cocked to one side.it doesnt seem to bother her or anything.I'm wondering if it will heal up as she grows or will just stay like that

Re: Quick Question

Sadly that is a direct sign that she was overcrowded as a baby or injured. I dunno if it will stay like that or not, but I bet it will stay bent for the rest of her life, but again am not 100% on that. The feelers sometimes get completely amputated through injury, those do regrow but do so VERYYYY slowly. We've had an angel that had it missing when we got him ohh 5 or 6 months ago atleast and it looks almost the same.

Re: Quick Question

It could be either a birth defect - as Chief has mentioned - or an injury. If it's an injury, keep your water VERY clean and it will heal fast on its own. I'd recommend for the Nitrate not to exceed 10 ppm during the healing period. You keep Nitrate low by regular water changes. Ammonia and Nitrite should, of course, be at 0 ALWAYS

Chief, one of my Angels' "feeler" fin appeared to be half missing a while ago too. It grew back in less than a month. I don't think that's long. And whenever any of my Angels has a torn fin, it heals within 2 - 3 days. I believe all of this is due to keeping water clean.
