im looking at a 15 gallon hex tank and the lady im cleaning it for wants angel fish. Would 2 angels and a few ottos do ok together in a 15 gallon hex tank?
Maybe these links will help. The profile and care section states for each of these species that a minimum 20G tank are required. Perhaps rethink the mix or find an experienced aquarist who might have had a similar mix in a smaller tank and see how he accomplished it. I can't imagine it would be easy nor wise.
Bhcaaron gave you very useful information/links on both Angels and Otos
I agree that a 15 gallon tank is far too small for 2 Angelfish. Some people will keep Otos in tanks as small as 10 gallons because they have no other choice among algae eaters (as all other good algae eaters are much bigger than Otos, and certainly way too big for a 10 or 15 gallon tank). I'd personally recommend a tank at least 20 gallons in size for Otos. However, if you absolutely need Otos in a 15 gallon tank, make sure it's NOT overcrowded and has VERY clean water. As for Angelfish, I'd personally recommend at least a 30 gallon tank, even though the link says at least a 20 gallon tank would be OK. I know from experience that a 20 gallon tank is not enough space to move around for fish like Angels. They've large fins and they need lots of space to move around easily.
All Fish Lore members are special to me But we're certainly ESPECIALLY happy to have members that help other members! So, yes, thanks a lot once again!
I don't know your age and I don't care, but, I'm getting a momy feeling from you Isabella. You're now officially the fishlore mother... err.. mommy lol

Sure I wanna be a mommy one day, just not yet, lol I'm 25 ... hehe
Wolfgang, do you have to have a large variety of fish, or would you be content with 1 - 2 schools of fish? Keep in mind it's only a 15 gallon tank. Do you have any particular fish (other than Angelfish) in mind?
lol, doesn't quite work then since I'm almost two years older than you. Still... Fishlore mommy! lol I called one of my previous bosses the Job Mom since she worried about all of us so much. lol
its a tank that dosent really get much care it was completley green with algae and there was a panda corey in the bottom still alive. so im adopting the responsabilaty . maybe barbs or tetras. something fun to watch and that can deal with higher tank temps. mid 80s
Why mid 80's? Most freshwater fish like temperatures around 75 - 80 F. The smallest and most peaceful Barbs are Cherry Barbs (I have 6) and they're absolutely beautiful. Males are beautiful red color and females are brownish-orange with whitish stripe along their bodies.
There are many small and beautiful Tetras as well, ex. Neon tetras, Glowlight tetras, Black Neon tetras, etc ... How about some Cyprinids like various Rasboras? I have 6 Harlequin Rasboras, and they're extremely beautiful too Around 4-5 Cherry Barbs + 6 Harlequin Rasboras would look beautiful. I'd get a friend or two for that lonesome Cory too.
Have some plants, real or fake, on the sides of the tank for the fish to hide in. Cherry Barbs especially like hiding places.
Here are some pictures of Cherry Barbs and Harlequin Rasboras:
