Sword Fry Buffet

Well, it looks like my angelfish enjoyed sword tail fry for dinner tonight.

My female sword was dropping fry, and as they swam away... BAM... angelfish yum-yums. Well at least my spoiled angels, got another... yet deserving... treat.

I see one lone fry hiding behind the heater, but I am sure that it wont last very long...

Yes, that's what will happen with eggs/tiny fry in a tank with more than one species of fish. It's unavoidable. Though DO try to save the last one! Get a small breeder net (very cheap) and put the little survivor inside the net, inside your tank. Freed it well there. It will survive and live. I do really hope you'll save it!

Re: Sword Fry Buffet

Actually, I do have a fry tank (which has 13 platy fry in there), but the purpose of the swordtail in this particular tank was to allow the fish to eat the fry...

I know... I can hear the grumbles already... but I refuse to feed my fish "feeder" fish because they are totally gross (did you ever notice the murky waters and all the dead fish in those tanks at the LFS). But I know that my swordtail is healthy, I know what she eats and how well she does, and the water she is in is pristine... so the fry she has are very good food for my beloved angles and glass cats to eat.

But on the Bright Side, I do have a livebearer tank, and the little fry tank for saving babies... but this gals fry was for dinner...

Haha. Thats sad but a good idea in a way. However you wanna do it I guess. I wouldve saved a few if I were you but since that was their purpose I guess its alright.

yea, the angels can be so fast at sucking those little guys up.. our Angel Fred is always eyeing the endlers tank next to the cichlid tank, hoping to get a chance at those little treats swimming around.
