Does Color Matter?

IF I WERE TO BUY AN ANEMONE FOR A COUPLE OF CLOWNFISH, DOES IT MATTER WHAT COLOR THE ANEMONE IS?

WOULD CLOWNFISH' LIKE ONE COLOR ANEMONE MORE THAN THEY WOULD ANOTHER?

IF SO, WHICH COLOR WOULD BE BEST?

From what I have read, the color is not as important as the type. Different types of clownfish prefer different types of anemones. You should pick which kind of clownfish you want to get, then see what their prefered anemone is.

Also, there are different ranges of anemone when it comes to care levels. If you are new to fish keeping, try to stay with a relatively low care level. And then there is the lighting requirements...

If I were you, I would get the clownfish first and add the anemone later. They do not need an anemone to thrive in your tank.

This is correct. Anemones should only be placed in established tanks. The problem with that is they may not like where you put them, and as they move to try to find "their" spot, they will create a wave of destruction killing everything in their path.

Look up the LPS coral "frogspawn". It looks similar to an anemone and come in a few colors, including green w/ purple tips, which I'm looking for. Also, hammer coral and torch coral. Clowns may host in all of these. My pair of tank raised ocellaris started hosting a frogspawn about 3 weeks after I put it in. It was like one day, it just felt natural to be inside of it and they never left. The benefit of these LPS corals is that they will stay where you put them, not walk all over your tank killing stuff.

All that, PLUS their lighting requirements are the same or less than an anemone's and you don't have to wait 6months to put one in.

Anemones will move all over the tank until they find the best spot for their needs. They will not stay where you put them most of the time.

but really though when they move is noticeable and they actually move?

With the current or they have their own means of transportation?

They can move on average a couple inches an hour. As they progress through the tank they will likely also sting any corals/fish that get in their way.

They have a foot and will scoot along. I've seen some in a store in ATL, I walked down the aisle, and it was on the side of the tank at the bottom. Walked back down the aisle 30min later and it was up at the top, so it went at least 8" in half an hour.

That's that thing that stinks with them, if they don't like where you put them, they will go where they please and it will be bad for anything in the way.

so hows the best way for an aquarist to know where they may want to be rather than them choosing, themselves, if possible?
