Id Help And Advice

O.k. so it's been a while since I posted anything because my tank has been going really well. However I notice two or three anemones in the tank. I currently have Marshall live rock in a 35 gallon tank and I thought nothing of them I said to myself bonus right?.... Wrong since then they have multiplied like seriously I think they had babies because the first few were about the size of a dime now there's like 20 more of them but there baby sized tiny tiny below is a picture of what the larger ones look think. I also notice that there are a few like living on my snail! Could this harm him? Also will I be o.k. or should I try to get rid of them someone help.

Thats definitely apitista. Its a bad thing to have in a tank. I heard that peppermint shrimp are very good at taking them out. Buy one or two and they should start disappearing.

The peppermint shrimp do get rid of them, I had a couple in my tank and they were gone fast when I added my shrimp. You have to make sure its true peppermint shrimp.
I don't know about skunk shrimp, I do know that sexy shrimp and peppermints are supose to be compatable

Alright so I’ve been doing some research and I found two different ways of going about this........

1. The lemon juice way. (However you have to buy a needle and make sure you get it in the stem which can be hard because they will retract.)

2. The true peppermint shrimp aka L. series. (This way is a little easier however they may start to eat other things in tank, and or possibly starve to death.)

I’m going with the peppermint I’ve just been having a hard time trying to find the correct one I keep coming across the camel back and their known for possibly passing up these particular anemones.

Hey steveangela1,

When you got your peppermint shrimp about how big was it (the shrimp) and the anemone? Because I’m afraid that shrimp may be too little and will be intimidated by it and you know no eat it, and about how long did it take before all of them were gone?

Hi BDD,
I had some apitista in the last tank we had.. and in the nano we have now.
Peppies are a small shrimp 20-25mm or 3/4-1" long when we got ours.
They cleaned the tank in a week.
If the apitista is bigger than 2" then try connecting a tube to the suction side of a power head, add another tube to the discharge side and into a bucket.
Start the power head and suck that sucker into the bucket.
Remember to clean the power head as any bits will grow into new ones

aiptasia is truly a pest and can take over quickly. Most peppermint shrimp will eat them, especially if they are still small. I have a skunk and peppermint in my 55 gal at home and they get along fine. Our copperband butterfly (tank at office) is an excellent aiptasia eater and will clean them out, however, you have to make sure the butterfly has plenty of other food to eat or it will eat all the aiptasia and then starve to death (personal experience, not a good one).

Or CBB may go after the corals if it is Reef.
