| ADF, and bottomless tanks???
Hello,
I've been thinking of trying a bottomless tank idea, and it all goes well, I'm thinking about transfering my african dwarf frogs from my crowded 5gallon tank to this new tank. But my question is, would the frogs have a trouble breathing/ getting air? As in the bottom less tank, they swim to the top, but there isn't any air up their, (generally), so I see that being a trouble.
Any ideas of how I could get around that??

| Don't bottomless tanks usually rest above another body of water that does have access to air?
If so, I would think that the frogs would learn which sections of the tank have access and which don't. |

| I think so.
My only concern would be the learning period. I am very confident that they would eventually learn, but there is a bit of worry that some might not survive the learning period. |

| IMO, I wouldn't chance it. When they go up for air, they make a quick dart to the top and zip back down to the bottom.
There's a really good chance they could drown before they figure out where to get air.
I could also see them whacking their head on the bottom of the top portion.
Also, their tanks really shouldn't be taller than 18" especially for a younger frog. |

| Good morning. As beautiful as that set up is in the video, I'd be afraid to try it. I'm with Lucy on this one. JMO...I've never seen one of these set ups in person.

| would this sort of extension work, not really a proper bottomless-tank, but it does give a cool effect, and its an extension for more room and such.....
... it wouldn't need an air pump, but use the vaccum effect to hold things in place |

| ADF's don't necessarily need a air pump, as long as your tank isn't too tall, your ADF's should be fine getting air. Bottomless tanks aren't the best, but if your low on budget, I guess thats the only way. But if you can spare a few bucks, you can get some pool filter sand at your local Home Depots or Lowes, and they only cost around 5-15 dollars for 50lbs of sand!
