I am sad to report that we have lost 2 of our sweet little froggers over the past week.
I have a bunch of questions about what to do next:
I had originally bought 2 of them in summer and put them in my 30g. One passed away within a week, so I got them a separate 10g tank, added 3 more ADF (from same stock as original 2) and they were doing great for weeks.
About 5 days ago, we lost Kermit, the survivor of the original 2 that we bought, and last night we found "Zer" dead. It was so sad...he looked like he was hanging out on a plant all spread out and nope...he was stiff.
After removing Zer from the tank, we were doing water changes on all of the tanks and noticed that 3 male platies had torn fins and were hiding from my aggressive dominant male platy, Misty, in my male livebearer tank. Despite being separated from all the females, Misty is a terror and loves to cause trouble!
So I put the 3 torn-finned platies in with the 2 frogs and hopefully they will be able to recover quickly and in peace. I need to get a new tank set up for my "teenage" platies so that will ultimately be their permanent home.
Questions:
Do you think it is safe to keep the 3 platies in the 10g with the 2 ADF?
Any idea why 2 froggers would just die out of nowhere within a week of each other?
Is there anything I can do to prevent the remaining frogs from dying?
Do frogs do better with fish company or species only?
