Aquatic frogs...

A couple times when I went to Big Al's, I've noticed these "aquatic frogs". What exactly are they? Can they go in a community tank? Do they need a big aquarium? And finally what are there levels for pH, nitrate, hardness etc...Oh and before I forget what do they eat and do they need surface for air?

What kind of frogs were they?
If they're back feet only are webbed and the front are not, they're African Clawed Frogs. They grow very big and will eat small fish.

If they have webbing on all 4 feet they're African Dwarf Frogs.
Here's our Care Sheet For African Dwarf Frogs
If you click on the link in my sig to my tanks, there's pics of my ADF's.

I am not a pro, but we have 2 african dwarf frogs. One is in a 5 gallon with a betta, the other in a 55 gallon community. They are both doing great! Both tanks are at 78 degrees, A=0, Ni=0, Na=5 with a Ph of 7.2 (out of the tap).

We did have one escape a few months back, so be sure that the tank is VERY well sealed as they are creative. The frogs do come up for air once in a while ... otherwise they hang out "here and there".

We feed ours "Frog & Tadpole Bites" made by HBH Pet Products ... I usually put the fish food in first, then drop the frog pellets at the opposite end of the tank with good results so far. But you can build a "feeder" for the frogs. For example, 2 small glass plates (laying flat) that are speparated enough for the frog to get in, but not the fish.

Be careful, there is the "African Clawed" and "African Dwarf" ... the clawed grows much bigger ... while the dwarf stays tiny.

Hope this helps!
