New ADF in my tank

ok so i went to the LFS today to get some more neon's and a dwarf guaromi, and i decided to ask my dad if he wanted to come...he did and he decided he wanted an ADF! haha so he bought it and now it is in my 50G tank and I am afraid it wont get enough food, or that it may harm my fish when they are sleeping! should i move it to my betta tank? or would it be alright in the larger tank? Thanks for any help frog gurus

The frog won't hurt your fish while they're sleeping. There's a chance he could eat them if they'll fit in his mouth, but that has to be a pretty small fish. Also if you have larger fish, you'd have to worry about them eating your ADF.
With a tank your size I would be worried about the height. ADF's need to get to the surface to breath. If it's a young frog, he may tired out before he can get there.
Feeding an ADF in a community tank can also be a problem. They're not quick to find the food and the fish may get the food first.
Don't reply on fish food. ADF's have their own nutritional needs.
Frog & Tadpoles pellets along with frozen bloods worms is a good diet for him.
Here's some info about African Dwarf Frog Care

ADF's are a lot of fun, but personally, I enjoy them in a species only tank. I've heard that they might work with a betta depending on the size tank. If this is your 10g, there's a chance it might work.
Have fun with yours and good luck

welll I think I will switch her over to my 10G with the betta the betta is a pretty mellow one, and there are alot of hiding places in the tank! And I lose the ADF in the big tank so the small tank will be fun to observe
Thanks Lucy!

so my ADF died today it was fine this morning, and then i found it belly up on the bottom of the tank! it had an abnormally large stomach when we got it, so maybe it had something wrong with it!

I'm really sorry you lost the little guy.
It sounds like he was sick when you got him. A large stomach usually indicates something is wrong.

That doesn't sound good at all. When my female has eggs, she doesn't get too big. You also want to make sure it's not too skinny.
If you decide to get another, look for one with clear eyes. Although it's normal for them to shed, make sure there aren't any tatters hanging on.

Sorry to hear about your frog ... I just lost one the other day, apparently my 55 gal tank was not as secure as I thought! I am going to put 2 in my 10 gallon ... species only and some sort of security system so that they can not get out! I will not have to worry about them eating this way ...

Hi guys, just a comment on tank mates for frogs: I have kept a couple of these frogs for a while now and my froggie (not quite original for a frog name I know) is together with neon tetra, cherry barbs, a platy (plonky), a betta (caroten: that is better) one otto (a suvival: I got it for so long I actually forgot when I got it!) and is doing very well. I do feed the whole crew with varied food from basics flakes, granules, sinking pellets to blood worms, daphnia, brine shrimps, live frozen or in a gel. as regard to competition, even though fish are definately faster; when there is food at the bottom and little froggie smells it, she does have her way to chase the others away and even Mr caroten backs away. She is very funny and seems to be annoyed to have so many fish around trying to get a bite of the lump of food she found, that makes me laugh. Anyway my point is no one seems to trouble her much.
