I know, I know, problem after problem. I'm beginning to wonder why we have fish, and how we still have live ones. ._.
Okay, so, we got 2 african dwarf frogs and 2 blue gouramis to add to our barbs and tetras. Everything was fine and everybody got along, then one frog died and it all went south from there.
The surviving frog was getting picked on by all 5 bigger fish. They nipped at him and were dragging him under the water when he was trying to float. He tried to climb out of the tank a few times.
My mom's convinced he's going to die and we can't help him, so I'm sort of on my own with this. I set up a jar with an air pump and got him out into the
betta fish's betta bowl, filled with water from the aquarium. (He's moving on his own and seems to be fine, but I'm far from an expert... obviously.) I got a jar set up with an air pump, so I'm just waiting until the water he's in cools down to room temperature since I can't fit the heater in there with the pump.
It's about a one or 1.5 gallon jar, it isn't horribly small, but the opening won't fit both. SO, this isn't a permanant solution, and he obviously can't go back in with the hateful barbs, who just can't leave anyone alone. ("peaceful community fish" I'm getting a good laugh at that now...)
I can't afford to buy him a tank right now, so I'm wondering if he'll get along with the betta if I put them together for a days or weeks, until I can get him his own? (Sorry, I can't be really clear on times since my mom won't talk about him. She says he'll die in an hour or two anyway. The negativity isn't helping...)
Or anything else I can try. I just really, really have no clue about what to do.
