I am so happy
I was at the store today and got a hold of a neat little fire belly newt. I have it in a large glass bowl with about an inch of water and a large rock for it to sit on. I might get another in a while depending on how this does. I will have pics when I get my camera back.

Ya, I've seen them. The glass bowl is a 2 gallon bowl and there is plenty of room for it, so I don't think I would be able to put one of the fog things in there. lol

I feed mine frozen bloodworms/brineshrimp, and live wingless fruit flies. It seems to love them and just sits under the light which I have for it. It is so neat to watch the little guy eat, it slowly approaches the food, and checks if it is eatable then pounces on it and gobbles it down. I got it for a few dollars.

Has any body ever tried feeding their newt live food like livebearer fry?

Yes, they will eat them if they can catch them.
While cleaning out one of the kiddy pools, we found a red spotted newt a few weeks ago here.
After getting some pictures, we let himgo into another of the kiddy pools.

There is about 6"x7" of water at the bottom and it gets a little larger. The water is about 2" deep too. As for the pics, we just need to get the camera back from my aunt that was in Africa. So I might be getting my camera back by the weekend.

I got some pics of my newt. It was really hard to get a pic of it in the tank so I had to take it out and it wouldn't sit still, hence my hand.

The orange is where it got the name, fire belly. The tail is stuck on there no matter what happens. You are thinking of some lizards.

Very nice I love newts. I always find them on the concrete cart paths at work. Drying up cause they didn't make it back to water. I always screech to a halt a help them back to water if I can help it. I do the same for the suicidal cray fish that do the same. I think they like the warm concrete and just don't get back to the water in time. Snakes hang out there too so I'm sure it's a heat thing. I've had to stop myself from bringing one home on several occassions as I have done with a frog and a cray. lol Newts are one of the cutest reptilian animals.
