| Angelfish with Firemouths? I'm considering rearranging my tank stock, and possibly moving my angelfish from my 29gal to my 90gal. However, there are two firemouths currently in the 90g (along with a few pictus, a BN, and a baby Royal Panaque). I'm a bit concerned about compatibility between the Angelfish and the Firemouths, so...
Have you or anyone you know tried that combo? How did it go? Thoughts?
Notes:
I could get another Angelfish or two of comparable size, but I'm not sure that would beneficial.
My Angelfish and my Firemouths are approximately the same size at this point |

| Shaina, I don't know the answer, but I have been contemplating the same thing. I look forward to hearing what other people have to say on the subject |

| Hey Shaina,
I did some research and this is what I found: http://www.cichlidforum.com/phpBB/vi...b0535d735e9060
If I remember correctly I think that Shawnie might have angels in with her JD's. I'm sure if Angels can handle JD's, that a firemouth wouldn't be a problem. |

| Wow...that person had mated convicts in with Angels (and a bunch of others)...eek!
I'll have to think about it, lol
Thanks for the link! |

| I had a Firemouth in with a few Angels at one time and they were fine. Angels are i believe are native to South America and the Firemouth is also and to mix them with other SA cichlids if that helps. Bein the same size also helps too then they grow up together. |

| They will mix just fine. They're both SA cichlids. |

| Ah, South America is a big continent, lol...and even so Firemouths are actually from Central America
In any case I'm giving it a shot...have Bruiser floating in a bag in the 90g right now since there's a bit of a pH difference between the tanks due to CO2 in the 29g. |

| Most New World cichlids get along together - besides the over aggressors (red midas, red devil, flowerhorns, jaguar, etc.)
Most places I've looked listed firemouths as tank mates for angelfish. |

| True, but my Firemouths are a mated pair which is an additional concern. They've been fine with the plecos and pictus in their tank, though, and the little GT that was in there for a while.
The initial intro went well...Bruiser is currently following the male FM around the tank...trailing him by about 5". The FM keeps zipping to the side trying to lose him, but it's not working lol
This may sound weird but...somehow the Angelfish looks *bigger* in the 90 than he did in the 29...
Anyway, keeping an eye on the situation... |

| Everyone survived the night with no injuries or stress showing. The Angelfish already seems to be King of the Tank, lol, which works for me.
I think they'll be fine, and will just have to keep an eye on them (like any cichlid tank). I'm considering adding a severum to the mix as well.
My BR's in my 29 don't know what to do with themselves...no longer under the thumb (fin?) of the much larger Angelfish, lol. |
