blue acara/green terror

I have a blue acara (supposedly) that may be the most aggressive fish I have ever had (and I used to keep african cichlids). Yesterday he and my convict fought mouth to mouth for at least an hour. I checked various sites to make sure I did not have a green terror instead, but he has a spot below the eye that seems to indicate an acara. Has anyone ever experienced an extremely aggressive acara, or do I have a terror in disguise. He is currently about 1 1/2 inches long. Thanks.

It sounds like any cichlid to me. They are all aggressive one way or another. A friend of our had a keyhole cichlid who was a terror...mine are so sweet & calm.

It depends on the fish sometimes.

it could be territory fights and or they were deciding who was going to be the king of the tank, this happened to me all the time last year, Green severums vs mayan and all was just for dominance, just keep an eye out for them so they wont kill each other.!

Its odd to me that its happening before 2-3" in size. Blue Acara and GT's are very similar in appearence at a young age. Being both come from the Aequidens family. I'd also be interested in a picture if possible.

Maybe they are 2-3" in size. I find it very hard to determine the exact size between 1.5-3" especially if you don't measure out of water.
