Algae problem

I'm having a bad algae problem in both my ten gallon tanks. Neither is near a window and I use low light. My two five gallon tanks are fine. It seems to be a bright green algae which is easy to scrub off the tank sides with an algae sponge but the gravel is covered with it too! I don't have the space for otos or cories as these are divided tanks. I'm thinking of getting two more mystery snails (small ones), one for each tank. I know they poop a lot but for some reason when I had my other snail I had no algae problem. I don't really know what else to do as it's not possible to scrub the gravel. Any ideas or comments?

Re: Algae problem

Yes you have room for otos. My 5 gallon tanks have a betta and 2 otos in them and they do fine. The green algae is not going to go away without a really good cleaning though as most snails and otos need to have help getting a really bad problem cleared up. Try syphoning the gravel and wiping down the sides and dividers and then get a couple of otos for each side of the divided tanks. You won't have near the problem. Unless you want to get a snail for each side of the tank that would work too.
