Algae woo's again.

what eats thread algae?
I first got it in my 5 gal betta tank, did a black out, added plants and an otto and a few ramshorns and it basically disappeared... now I've found it hiding "in" the plants. But it's a little different now. It's dark green not bright green and it's tough like real thread instead of slimey and fraglie like before... it looks like algae... is it?

well the original stuff may have been hair algae now that I read about it, hard to say though, I've got it growing in the 5 hex at the moment (went away and forgot to turn the light off so it's growing peachy now) I'll try to get pics in the morning. This new stuff is... different. It almost feels too sturdy to be algae, but it doesn't look like moss.

Are you sure it's not new shoots/leaves/ and/or roots/runners? If it's attached to the plant, strong and bright green,it could be any of those.Aquatic plants usually grow 'feelers' that help absorb nutrients.

no the bright green stuff usuallt grows on the walls more then the plants. This stuff is dark green. I would say that it could be runners except that it's hiding on multiple plants, ludwig and a purple waffle (non-aquatic but still holding in there). I'll post pics later today after I write my final.

Ok so I didn't get back to this thread right after finals. Good thing Alage isn't a pressing issue. Ok Everyone here are the only pics I have (I'm at home now) here they are.

Oh my gosh, such cute pics! Sorry I don't have any advice on the algae...
But I love how Coolie (it's Coolie, right?) is sticking his face in all the pics.. so cute! And he looks so much like my Winter!

Yep that's my boy Coolie. He wouldn't get out of the way lol. He's the worst of the boys for having his pic taken. He thinks that he should have been a model.
