Welcome to Fishlore! I moved your thread into the general discussion area, as it had been posted in the "how to" section regarding aspects of using the forum itself. It should get a bit more notice out here.
Is your tank freshwater or saltwater?
What does this algae look like? Is it short, fuzzy, hairy, just little spots on the glass? Is it actually black, or if you look closely, is it another color.
What are the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings in your tank?

Welcome to Fishlore.

I'd get the API master freshwater kit. You may have high nitrates. Also, how long each day is the lighting on? Is there any other light that reaches the tank, like sunlight?

You can try to run your lights shorter periods, say 8-10 hours per day.
