blue/green algae

There has been some blue/green colored algae growing in my tank. I have two otos in there, but I don't think they're eating it. Do they only eat brown algae I'm just concerned because I don't want the green algae to kill my plants =/

To control algae, you have to reduce light, and food that produces waste. If you will keep lights on under 10 hrs /day and cut food/ or reduce your stocking / or incresase water changes it will help. One of the reasons to keep nitrates under 20 is that it reduces the food for algae.

kool thanx! One more question. Should I add more plants then so they can take in the nitrates? Because I've been thinking about adding more plants anyways. =]
