| Re: Air Pump broke is it nesesary If you have a hang on back filter, then technically it should give the water enough aeration. In a lot of tanks the bubbles are just for show. You should have plenty of time to replace the air pump at your convenience. If you see your fish taking trips to the top of the tank and gulping for air then that could mean you don't have enough aeration in the tank. In that case take some of the water our of the tank (i.e. low the level down by a 1/2") so that the outflow of the filter splashes more into the water. This will help create more aeration until you can get a replacement air pump, but it shouldn't be that big of a problem. |
