Is it ok to burry an air stone under the gravel? i've heard that when you do that you get bigger bubbles, which are not as great as the smaller bubbles?

Bigger bubble means larger oxygen displacement into the water. Which is good but can sometimes be nerve racking for certian fish. I would suggest something more like a bubble wall. Putting the air stone into the gravel can also stir up fish waste into your tank which wouldnt be good.

Really? I have one of those long stones buried in the gravel. I thought that's how it was supposed to be.

It's the job of your filter to suck up that displaced waste. Not a bad thing IMO.

It's whatever you want Meenu. It's purely for aesthetics. I'm sure it's a really cool effect!

I bury all my stones, except in bare glass tanks of course. Never had an issue. Just don't bury them in sand or you will get a coating of sand over everything near the air stone. I stick my stones to the back glass using a suction cap & clip when I use a sand substrate. It's however you want it to be.

Anytime I've used air stones I always hid them under the gravel too. I never had any problems.
